TECHNICAL SUPERVISOR

Oversees the development of a four show season for Palm Beach Atlantic Universities' Theatre Department. Directly supervises all department heads and serves as the Instructor of Record for the associated class. Performs all hiring for technical positions, student and freelance. Executed planning, scheduling, tech, and strike. Works with Department Chair, Production Manager, and Technical Director in the development and planning of each show. Oversees all production meetings. Works with the university safety and security department to ensure safe protocols of the productions and building. Meets the Production Team’s artistic and collaborative expectations.

Participation in Production is the department’s one credit class that produces our mainstage season shows. In this class, students must interview for technical positions, fulfill crew responsibilities to build the production, and staff backstage crews. I perform four roles for this class in each of our productions: instructor of record, manager of interviews and job placement, technical supervisor of all crews and the production, and safety coordinator. I oversee the individual crews and their responsibilities, ensure the timely and safe completion of tasks, advise staff and student heads of crew, manage the technical rehearsal phase, and provide safety training. Student development in production is critical. Through this course, I am able to guide students as they learn the many technical roles of production, including but not limited to the workers and leaders in the various crews, helping them to develop design, technical, and career skills.
